Rare theoretical concepts offer “out of the box” ideas and answers not leaning towards orthodox economic solutions of either increased spending to boost economy in the times of downturn or exaggerated savings to improve overall depth situation.
Universal basic income (UBI) is such a concept, redefining topics as work, employment, wage based society and welfare economics. The idea behind is simple: distribute income unconditionally granted to all on an individual basis, without means test or work requirement.
The international conference “Universal basic income: for new social contract in Europe” will bring together leading theoreticians on UBI and social welfare state, as well as their main opponents, to offer an open window for an international discussion and sharing of global experience on this topic in Slovenia.
The conference, which will take place in Ljubljana, on October 11th - 12th 2012, is founded by the European Parlament and organized by European Liberal Forum and Novum with the support of Projekt:Polska.
The international conference “Universal Basic Income: For a New Social Contract”, which took place on 11 and 12 October 2012 at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, has closed. The aim of the conference was to bring together the opinions of Slovenian and foreign experts in the field of basic income (BI) and encourage a discussion on the possibilities of promoting and implementing BI in Slovenia.
